Just because you can't see it happening doesn't mean it can't. Crazy things that no one ever saw coming have happened in the past, and there's nothing stopping it from happening again.
On a serious note: Yeah, I realize that it's not "realistic" to think Gordon, or anyone else in the top 5 other than Kenseth or Johnson will have a shot at it come Homestead. But you have to consider what this guy has done in the past, if he could just get this decade-old Monkey off his back he could be back to where he was in the 90's and early 2000's.
You act as if he has no shot of doing remotely well in Cup anymore. There are some fans that are much more "blind" than those of Gordon. I've just never understood why Gordon fans are perceived as this outcast group following without a cause, it's not like we're any different than other fan groups.
Oh, wait, we are... They don't have one of the greatest drivers of all time to root for.
I guess all the people who give Gordon/his fans a hard time are all of the leftover Gordon boo-er's from the 90's. Who are most likely still jealous because he continues to perform better than whoever their favorite driver is.
Yeah, I suppose they did. That would be a truly amazing feat, he might snatch the title if he did. Depending on where Johnson and Kenseth finish. He would have to muster up a whole lot of the "Old-Jeff" for that to be even considered realistic though.
I honestly do think he still has a shot to win the title. It might be a longshot, but from how he's been performing leading up to and in the Chase I wouldn't see why he couldn't reel off at least 1 more win and be in serious contention by Homestead.
This is all hopes and dreams from I die-hard Gordon fan though. I'd be really happy and surprised if any of this happened.
Sorta like Gordon this year. *wink*
But yeah, he had a mediocre season at best before the chase. It was a shock to me that he even had a shot at it. (Talking about 2011)
Haha, I got a good laugh out of that. To be fair though, he has had multiple chances to win this season. It was mostly things that he couldn't control that took him out of contention.
Yep, I didn't believe a word he said. From seeing/hearing about what his/RCR's relationship has been like lately, I see why he's leaving and said the things he did.
Though I can't help but wonder how things will go at SHR, they're not the hottest team either. I feel like there were probably better options for him. Especially since SHR went to 3 teams and started running poorly, you have to think that going to 4 will have a similar impact.
I had a really fun time this race, qualified last, but that's not to say I wasn't on pace. The whole field was only separated by ~3 seconds. So it was shaping up to be a really close race IMO.
But sadly it was anything but that, lol. We lost nearly half the field in the first 6 laps, I believe. I was running 4th at the time. I eventually made my way to 2nd until Toumas finally caught up to me. I didn't put up much of a fight since he was so quick. I think his pit-stop payed off somewhat, since he didn't have much falloff on his lap times due to worn tires and was able to run blazing laps the entire race.
After all was said and done, we had some more retirements, some for no reason it seemed. And I brought the Kart home to a 3rd place finish, out of 4 cars... Not a huge accomplishment when you think about it, but a podium is a podium. And I'll finally be in the standings. I also ran a faster lap during the race than in practice (1:52.84), which is the first time I've done that in the whole series.
I'll leave this weekend a happy man, excited for the rest of the season.
Once again, my race was cut short... I only completed 14 laps until I swerved after being run up on by a faster kart and ended up butted against the wall. I probably could have handled the situation better and continue, but I suppose I wasn't meant to finish this one. So I still won't be in the standings, but that can only motivate me to do well at Aston.
One other sim, not a racing sim, but a vehicle sim, that is including Oculus Rift support is BeamNG.
This is all very exciting to me, finally having a reasonable way to use VR in gaming is truly revolutionary. I wouldn't mind paying $30-$100 for something like this, but a free one sure would be nice.
